For a long time, my mother has called me a 'gitana'- gypsy in Spanish. It's been the only way she could describe my affinity for living in places around the world, my insatiable thirst to travel.
It started as early as I can remember, visiting our dozens of family members in Cartagena, Colombia when we were kiddos. A year overseas through UCSD had me hooked! I thought I'd never come down from the high I felt living in Barcelona.
Then, after discovering international teaching, I was away for over 10 years. My homes were Medellin, Tunis, Seoul, and Luang Prabang. In that time, I used these places as jumping off points to explore the globe. After a recent spell in Oakland, CA, I'm back out...this time in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
There's certainly a back story to our current choice. It wasn't pretty, but here we are...in a place that inspires me daily and for this, I am grateful.
